Longreach is the Million Dollar Hole-in-One destination, and last stop on the 2021 Outback Queensland Masters journey.

Draw a line through the centre of Queensland, and you’ll come to Longreach: the outback town on the Thomson River, so named for its position on its longest reach. Its river may have been what first drew its population to settle in the centre of Queensland, but it’s the promise of country hospitality that keeps visitors coming back to this outback town.

Make sure you see these top 4 things when you are in town:

1. Learn about the pioneering past

Visitors to Longreach can easily imagine what life was like for Australia’s pioneers thanks to the range of authentic experiences on offer. Ride in a galloping Cobb & Co stagecoach, gently cruise along our river and look up in awe at a canopy of stars; surrounded by the timeless landscape that inspired Australia’s iconic bush poets.

2. Qantas Founder Museum

A world-class Qantas Founders Museum and cultural display, eloquently telling the story of the founding of Qantas through interpretive displays, interactive exhibits, replica aircraft and an impressive collection of genuine artefacts.

Visitors can enjoy guided tours of the Airpark and the new Luminescent Longreach night experience. Luminescent Longreach is a spectacular night time light and sound experience designed to delight, entertain, inform and move. Stand amongst iconic aircraft as world class projection mapping and 360 degree immersive sound brings the 100 year story of Qantas to life with the mighty Boeing 747 serving as a primary canvas.

To visit the Museum and enjoy our many experiences, please book online through the Museum’s website. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, spaces are limited and bookings are essential.

3. Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame

A spectacular tribute to the people of outback Australia, The Australian Stockman’s Hall of Fame, tells the story of the rural areas from the arrival of the Aborigines more than 40,000 years ago, to the establishment of grazing and other industries in country Australia.

It follows the story through to the present day where technologies of many kinds are playing the role in farming, business and communications. Themes also include development of the outback properties, living in the outback and the stock worker.

4. Take in the Thompson, River that is.

Whether you want to wet a line, take a dip or relax on a cruise, the Thomson River is not to be missed. The river offers perfect camping spots along its banks, walking tracks and a ‘beach’.

Our tip: choose to spend sunset on the water – you wont regret it.
